Hello Jeanette,

Council advised as follows.

Cheers, John

~~~
Please be advised Council has a Heritage Advisory Committee further information on this Committee can be found on Council's website A number of the Committee members are linked with local heritage groups within Port Stephens. Many of these groups conduct a range of research projects, information on these groups can be found at the link: http://www.portstephens.nsw.gov.au/grow/land-environment-and-heritage/heritage/local-heritage-groups. They may be able to provide you with information on Cecily Haddock, I am not aware of any historical records relating to her observations.
In relation to the excavation works, consent was granted for earthworks (excavation of potential historic site) by Council on the meeting of the 28th February 2017. The Council report prepared by Council officers and the minutes are available on the Council's website. A Section 96 application to modify the consent was received and approved on 21st March 2017. The modification allowed further excavations outside of the original investigation area (but still within the park, some 10m from the approved area). The development consent would provide greater clarity on what we have approved and is available on the Council's website DA tracker and can be searched by using the application year (2016) and number (780).
