Congratulations to Megan Goulding and Dr Karen Murphy as new Heritage Council archaeology member and alternative member respectively.

New Heritage Council members

Three new members and four alternate members have been appointed to the Heritage Council of Victoria.

Heritage Council chair Professor Stuart Macintyre AO welcomed the new appointees who, he said, all possessed valuable experience and skills to help safeguard the state’s heritage.

He said the Heritage Council played an important role in ensuring that the state’s diverse cultural heritage was enjoyed, managed and protected for current and future generations.

New members are Louise Honman, Megan Goulding and Robin Crocker, and alternate members appointed are Christine Phillips, Karen Murphy, Jeffrey Robinson and Natica Schmeder.

Architect conservation/architectural history member Louise Honman has served one year as an alternate member.  She  is a registered architect with more than 25 years’ experience in heritage assessment and management and is a director of heritage consultancy Context.

Alternate member Dr Christine Phillips is a registered architect with a PhD in architectural history.  She is the director of OpenHAUS Architecture and a lecturer at the School of Architecture and Design, RMIT University.

New alternate engineer/building construction member Jeffrey Robinson has a degree in engineering and experience in the design of sustainable buildings and the sustainability of heritage buildings.

New archaeology member Megan Goulding is the CEO and Principal Heritage Adviser for Ochre Imprints. She has more than 30 years of experience in cultural heritage management having previously worked in Victorian government heritage agencies, private practice and for Indigenous organisations and is also a sessional member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

Alternate archaeology member Dr Karen Murphy is a Historical Heritage Technical Leader for Jacobs Group and is an experienced practitioner with a PhD in historical archaeology.

National Trust member Robin Crocker has more than  30 years’ experience working in the management and interpretation of parks, is a Director of Crocker-Jones Consulting, and a sessional member for Planning Panels Victoria. He also has significant knowledge and expertise in the area of landscape assessment and management.

Alternate National Trust member Natica Schmeder is an architectural historian and buildings conservator with qualifications in Architectural Conservation. Ms Schmeder is an Associate with Context and has extensive knowledge of Australia’s architectural history. She is a member of the National Trust and ICOMOS Australia.
