2015 AAA Conference - Call for Sessions

The 2015 AAA conference will be hosted by the University of Western Australia. The conference theme is: On the Edge: The Archaeology of Adaptation and Transition.
Submissions are now invited for proposed sessions. We
particularly welcome session proposals linked with the conference theme, but
also welcome general conference sessions including historical, Indigenous,
cultural heritage, native title, rock art, maritime, museums, archaeological
science and public archaeology issues.
Session organisers should provide a title and brief abstract (up to 200 words) of the proposed session(s), with an estimate of the number of individual sessions requested. All individual sessions will run for 2 hours and include 6 presentations. All papers will strictly be 20 minutes in duration (15 mins speaking + 5 mins question time). Speakers may only present one paper during the conference, although they may be co-authors on other papers.
As a decision of AAA2015 conference organising committee, we have chosen to limit the number of parallel sessions. To that end, we will combine similar themes where necessary and will strive to achieve a diversity of sessions that are not overlapping in either topic or the presentation schedule.

Conference Theme: On the Edge: The Archaeology of Adaptation and Transition
Australia is the most arid continent to have been occupied by modern humans with 70% of its landmass comprised of Drylands. These vast areas share boundaries with two of the World’s great oceans as well as numerous adjoining bioregions on land. The conference theme aims to investigate how people have responded to a range of influences generated by living 'on the edge'. Such factors include environmental and social forces and we are interested in all time periods from first human arrival to European invasion and into the world today. Locating our enquiries at the intersection between Australia’s deserts and surrounding landscapes/ seascapes will help us reflect on how people adapt and change in transitional zones.
The Call for Sessions is now open and will close at COB Friday 29 May 2015.
In late June, we will announce the conference sessions that have been accepted and place a Call for Papers to be submitted. Conference registrations will open in late April.
