A further Basic GIS question

Following on from Arron’s comments a further basic GIS question is does anyone else feels that ESRI’s relationship with their founder and chairman  Jack Dangermond quasi-religious?

 

I am not actually sure what his has done apart from founding a very successful software company and building its business without cashing out at the first wiff of the big $$$$ like so many others have done. But that’s not geoawesomeness.
