Good afternoon all,

I'm trying to track down the archaeologists involved with excavating the Bremer Copper Mine Smelter, adjacent Callington, SA (not far outside Adelaide).  [

There has been some interest in re-exposing the site for interpretation purposes so it would very helpful to know what has already been learned. The photograph was taken by a non-archaeologist who visited after the work had been done. It is now completely buried under debris such that we don't know exactly where this particular feature is anymore.

The smelter dates from the 1850s and is one of a group of early smelters in the Kanmantoo copper district. Much of the site appears to have survived archaeologically, although it has been buried under successive layers of dumping. It doesn't show up in SA government records because it isn't a State Heritage Place and archaeological permits were not required at that time.

Anyone remember working on this site?
