Search with a '$' sign - not possible

Hi,

I am using the Otter API, and the web search at Topsy.com
I found out that it is not possible to do a search with the $ symbols.

Today the $ sign is becoming more and more popular in Tweets, where it
is being used to identify equities, i.e $MSFT.

Are you planning to support this kind of search?
How can I perform this kind of search?

It works fine in more recent time windows as we added support for it a few months ago: e.g.:
