s3fs support on Fuse for macOS?

I have been trying to figure out the state of using s3fs with Fuse for macOS 4.0.1. Attempting to compile the current version of s3fs was not working for me out of the box. Does anybody know the state of supporting s3fs and what's missing? I didn't want to open any feature requests or issues before asking around.
