Hi

Seems in latest Night Build the Background service is remaining running after exit.

On my SGSII the only way to get rid of it was to reboot the device :)

Hi

I think You don' t need to reboot you can kill via application manager.

There are 2 types of bugs : service running but there is no indication and service is not running but there is a indication

I think you have 2 nd

Hi Victor

I think you are right, I got the second situation - the application is not running, I got the notification and it is not dissapearing even when I click "Clear" to get rid of notifications.

Does some of the background service issues have been addressed or changed in ver 1.1.0 ?

Thanks for your reply Areg ,

Which background issue did you experience before , that is gone now ?

And which device/phone model are you using ?

Hi

As described in first post of this thread when I close the OsmAnd the background service icon remains in notification bar list and I cant clear it.

It was possible to clear the notification by opening and closing OsmAnd couple of times or by rebooting.

In new version I did not notice this issue so far.

I am using Samsung Galaxy S2 phone.

Areg

I have GT-i9100 with osmand 0.8.3 android 2.3.5 and the background service gives me a weirder symptom : Not showing background icon , gps starts by itself and doesn't stop(after exiting the app), there is no visual indication for the gps starting . I can know that because i have an audio rule for the gps with "automateit" app .

Hi

I am running the latest build of OsmAnd - 1.1.0 - build 433M.

I noticed that in old version the background service does not go away when I close the app and sometimes it is activates the GPS too.

I did not noticed this in new versions.

Probably OsmAnd developers can confirm that the issue is fixed now.

Areg

The issue can still exist if you kill (with -9 ) application externally with running background service. The solution for it to start application again and start/stop background service. In other cases I'm not sure if the issue exists.

Same issue here, with the latest Osmand+ 1.1.0 and CM7.2 on a ZTE Blade.
If I quit Osmand, the message about Background service does not disappear, even after click on "Clear".
Looking at the running processes (native CM7 settings) there seems to be no process like Osmand, so maybe only the message is broken?

Hi

Actually app is not being killed.
It is just closed using the close button on main screen.

Actually, i think ( not 100% sure ) that if you close the background service in the app , it will be closed permanently .

So you just need to close the background service before you quit the app .

This is not the best situation to my opinion because if you don't close the background service it will seek for your gps location even you don't start the app .

This situation would be good if the background service would be closed when you exit the app So when you start the app you won't have to turn the background service on, It would turn on autocratically.
