Hello, all:

I am new to OriendDB, and will greatly appreciate it if you could guide me to answers to the following questions:
  1. Are there any books that are geared towards using OrientDB; something similar to the graph database books which emphasize Neo4j?
  2. Are there any sample code/tutorials on creating, connecting to, and traversing OrientDB databases using Java?
Thanks in advance for your responses, and have a great day.

Hi Diaa,
Did you already complete the FREE Getting Started course?

Hi, Luca:

Thanks for your response! I am actually still following the course, but did not complete it yet. I guess I am trying to get a little bit ahead of myself!

Beside the course, are there additional resources that you recommend?

Thanks.

Hi Diaa,

Did you check out the OrientDB manual?

Hi, Colin:

Thanks a lot for your response. I actually follow the manual in the sections that I am currently learning. At this point, I am able to add new Vertices, Edges, connect them, and visualize them within the Studio tool. I can also perform simple "select" queries to list the different objects in my database. I think I am being in a hurry to get down to point where I can programmatically do all that using Java, and was hoping to find a start-up/HelloWorld project that can help with that. I probably should wait until I reach that point in the online course, and the user manual.

Thanks again for the prompt responses; I feel more comfortable working withe OrientDB, knowing that the community is so supportive and helpful.

Have a great day.

Hi Diaa,

We're happy to help.  Know that we're working to improve the documentation and tutorials and will eventually have nice "hello world" type samples of the Java API.

Good luck!

Hi, Colin:

Thanks for your positive response. I am building small examples as I learn how to build graph databases, and promise to make anything that I build to learn available to anyone who may need it.

Thanks again, and have a great day.
