Hi,
I'm going to announce the Oracle enhanced adapter release plan for Rails 5.2.
Releasing two versions of Oracle enhanced adapter 1.9 and "nextval" 2.0.
## Oracle enhanced adapter 1.9
* This will just support Rails 5.2
* No big changes planned
## Oracle enhanced adapter "nextval" 2.0
Planned new features and changes:
* Support Oracle Database 12c Release 2 or higher version only
* Introduce `identity` datatype like auto_increment in MySQL to replace sequence based primary key support
* Longer identifier (128 byte) support
* Drop support for Oracle Database 12c Release 1 or lower versions of Oracle
* Drop database link support to be replaced by Rails 3-level database configurations to allow multiple database connections
* Drop trigger based primary key support
* Drop sequence based primary key support
Current plan is releasing two versions of Oracle enhanced adapter 1.9 and "nextval" 2.0 both of which will support Rails 5.2.
But this is a migration plan. At some point (the earliest one is Rails 5.3 or 6.0) Oracle enhanced adapter 2.0 or newer version will be developed.
Thanks,
