Fuel Consumption Algorithms

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any resources I can leverage to determine fuel consumptions based on but not limited to OpenXC's vehicle data. ie. Weather, engine_speed, vehicle_speed, braking patterns, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,

With OpenXC you should be able to read "fuel_consumed_since_restart" directly from CAN. No need to calculate that value from other vehicle data! http://openxcplatform.com/vehicle-interface/output-format.html

You will, however, need to calculate "miles per gallon" manually as this measurement is not a current OpenXC value.

 do you know how does the open XC calculates the fuel consumed from restart value, i mean the logic or the method of consumption calculation

Hi Suriya,

OpenXC does not modify or calculate anything with the data. It is straight from the sensors on the CAN bus.
