Diagnostics Trouble Codes (DTC) Database/API

Is anyone aware of either a database or API that provides access to OBD-II diagnostics trouble code (DTC) definitions and a more detailed description of the possible issue. At a minimum, the content would include the generic/universal DTC codes, but support for manufacturer-specific codes would be nice. Any help to find a provider of this type of content would be appreciated. I've seen several web sites where you can lookup a code, but I'm looking to integrate the content into a mobile app and need to either have access to the DB or to API's.

This isn't meant as legal advice, but as I understand it the generic DTC codes + descriptions are covered by international copyright law.    It may be the codes aren't protected so much as the explicit language of the text especially if it is a compilation of the text such as you might include in a header file.   Consider consulting with an IP attorney.
