some questions about "message format" and Chinese Ford models

    I'm not a professional developer, out of a hobby, I plan to buy CrossChasm C5 BLE and add my first car (as Ford).OPENXC decision for me to buy a ford played an important reason, I recently in studies using OPENXC to collect the vehicle information.

    So, I have some problems hope to get help on knowledge.For now, I haven't really buy a CrossChasm C5 BLE to connect a Ford car.

1. I noticed that in addition to Vehicle Messages, such as CAN,Command,Diagnostic have provided the “Requests”, does this mean that the Vehicle Messages will automatically by vehicle interface send a message to iOS through bluetooth, and other types will need to “Requests”, then, return the Responses message.

2, if it is automatic, Vehicle Messages will be in what frequency sends the message (such as per 10 seconds will send roughly how many), I plan to save the message into iPhone’s flash, and do some analysis for these data.

3, I come from China, where I can find, ford’s series in China, which models support openxc and CrossChasm C5 BLE.

Hi and Welcome.

1) Diagnostics are by nature a request/response protocol so you will have to create those. We do have some built in automatic requests too. For CAN broadcast data, the VI will automatically send the data. 

2) It is configurable, but this describes the default: http://openxcplatform.com/about/data-set.html

3) This page describes vehicle compatibility for all of our VIs. There is limited testing on vehicles in the Chinese market. If you have a specific one, please let me know and I'll try and confirm compatibility. http://openxcplatform.com/hardware/vehicles.html

Also, sounds like you figured it out, but the C5 BLE is for iOS ONLY.
