Seems kind of dead?  Is there anyone actually "at" OpenXC?  I want to buy the "CROSSCHASM C5 BLE VI" and develop for my new 2018 FORD Ecosport Titanium. But is seems like there are no live bodies at OpenXC?  Is there a phone number to call????

How long does it take to get the VI once I order?

And is this the best VI for my FORD Ecosport and ios/iphone development?

Thank you,

robert Moore

Hello Robert,

OpenXC is still active. Have you not seen any of the activity on this forum or GitHub? I'm not sure what else you're looking for. We do not have a phone number as we do support through this forum. If you really really need to talk to someone, I can provide my number.

There is a "shop" link at the top of the OpenXC website that will allow you order any of the devices.

Yes, C5 BLE is for iOS development. What year is your Ecosport?

Regards,
Eric

Hello Eric,

Thank you for the email.  I just wanted to know if OpenXC was still alive, it seems very dead, as well as the FORD Developer site seems very, very dead.

I have 13 apps on the Apple App Store, so I do have experience (JOHNAVATAR.com).

I just leased a 2018 FORD EcoSport Titanium (end of March for 39 months).

I did download iOS files from the GitHub site.

Online on the OpenXC site, I did buy the C5 BLE and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I was to do some basic research on self driving coding (not that the EcoSport can self drive...).

I think I was looking at the OpenXC blog and forum, which entries are like a year and much older? I'll look at the GitHub.

Sincerely,

••

Hello Eric,

Is OpenXC owned by FORD?

What's the relationship to FORD?

Thank You,

FYI - Ana Godinez <agod...@alom.com> responded last week to my inquiry regarding the C5 BLE and placing an order.

Thank You,

Hi Robert,

Yes, OpenXC should work with your EcoSport. I haven't had a chance to test a 2018 yet. It might have switched from type6 to type3. 1 of the 2 should work. Let us know how it goes!

Since you were also looking at developer.ford, AppLink is another avenue to pursue depending on what you want to develop.

Regards,
Eric

OK!  I just got around to spending some time with OpenXC and getting the demo app to install and boot up on my iPhone 6 Plus (iOS 11.4).... It took a bunch of work (lots of errors in the process to install all of the Xcode components....)... it does install and boot up, but I get an error message in the Xcode Console and a blank white screen on my iPhone.  The Xcode Error is "Thread 1: signal SIGABRT" and "image not found"??  I don't see any missing images and the message is cryptic.... what's the fix?  Any ideas?

IS THERE ANY WAY TO RENAME THIS TITLE?  It should be something like,

"GETTING THE "openxc-ios-app-demo-master" TO ACTUALLY WORK!

Hi John,

The error is because "protobuf & openxc framework" are not added as part of library in demo app. As per iOS guidelines, you will need to add external frameworks as part of library & embed them too.

The detailed steps are provided as a document in our GitHub repo

Kanishka

Hello Kanishka,

Maybe you can answer this one?

So I do have the Demo App running on my iPhone 6S Plus and I was able to install 3 different versions of the VI firmware which all seem to install, but NOW I only see a RED led on my VI when I plug it into my 2018 FORD EcoSport Titanium?  I don't see my VI on BlueTooth and when I scan for VI using the APP it also doesn't see it?

Here's the last firmware I installed.... this is on a MacPro using Terminal and the terminal I/O (successful VI firmware FLASH????):
