Hi,

We currently trying to manufacturing the OpenXC VI in China, the problem being Bluetooth Module RN41-I/RM is currently forbidden in China, there is no way we can purchase the part from China.
Just wondering if there are some alternatives that we can substitute. Thank you very much!

Long,

The Bluetooth Module RN-41 is pin compatible with the RN-42. The RN-41 is a Class 1 Bluetooth chip whereas the RN-42 is a Class 2 Bluetooth chip so there will be a reduction in the Bluetooth range from 100 meters to 20 meters. I'm not sure if the RN-42 is forbidden in China... Will that part work?

Just out of curiosity, how many OpenXC VIs will you be manufacturing?

Thank you so much Zac, RN-42 is not forbidden in China, we can totally start using that.

about how much to manufacture, we have not decided yet, depends on how goes with our prototype tryout.

Hi Zac,

the prototype making is still under progress, it has been stalled by the May1st Holiday in China, but I will let you know if there is any updates.
