Unfortunately the RPi's Broadcom BCM2835 SoC doesn't have a CAN controller built-in, so you would need to use an external controller over SPI or some other interface. There's some good discussion about it here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=7027

A stickier problem is that the "cantranslator" source code repo is optimized for an embedded microcontroller, and as far as I know, couldn't be easily run as a binary in Linux. Please prove me wrong, or extend the source code so it could be run in either environment!
