I come from BMW's where custom coding is easy. now I have a ford and cannot find ANYTHING until I stumbled upon this.

i want to do things like make the rear tail lights run as daytime running lights. would openxc allow me to accomplish that goal and more?

Hi stripher,

Glad you stumbled on OpenXC!

Right now, the Ford firmware that we release which runs on multiple vehicle interfaces supports reading from the CAN bus. For the 2015 Mustang, you'll want to download the compiled OpenXC firmware from developer.ford.com and use "Type-3." Unfortunately you won't be able to control things like the daytime running lights, etc but you will be able to read data such as the status of the headlights and brake pedal status.

Just out of curiosity, can you share some of your experience working on your BMW and what types of projects you'd like to accomplish? This could potentially lead to new features for the OpenXC platform.

Welcome aboard!
