Dear All,

Just got my Ford VI.

I was able to carry out the smoke test on the android successfully. I want to be able to read the raw data from the two busses hence decided to connect to the device with my PC windows 10 and Python.

I followed all instructions and installed the unsigned drivers finally, however i still get :-

ValueError: No backend available

the drivers are installed properly and no errors. How can i get this to work? as i realy need to analyse the changing raw data.

Please can some one help and let me know if they got this to work with windows 10 64 bit.

Hi Nadeem,

This should work. What firmware is in the device? You mentioned the Android smoke test worked so I would assume that's ok.

What are the lights on the VI doing?

Dear Eric,

Thanks for your email.

We are only getting a blue light.

we are using the vi-firmware-type9-FORDBOARD-ctv7.2.0-csv7.0.0.

We have the VI.

I Restored my computer back to before state and installed the 32 bit Python, but still same problem.

During the Android testing, did you get two blue lights?

You should get either another red or green light when you connect the USB.

To check the USB connection, I would try the emulator firmware and disconnect the VI from the vehicle.

we only get one blue light.

i changed the cable and checked everything.

it also detects.. but only one blue light goes on.

hi eric , i just got it to work on windows 8 :but not windows 10.

anyways do you have any pre built for the Vi . which can just spit out changing raw can bus data ? it would be cool if we had firmware which would just spit out raw data from both busses :)

as now i have another problem of not being able to install git hub and the development tools.

it says can not load squirell hook.

Glad you got it working.

We don't have a raw CAN pre-built firmware as that is a lot of data. We do have examples of exactly how to build your own though: http://vi-firmware.openxcplatform.com/en/master/config/raw-examples.html.

I'm not sure how squirrel hook is related to GitHub or other dev tools.
