For OpenTSDB 2.3 there is a configuration parameter "tsd.core.connections.limit" which can be used to set the maximum number of connections a TSD can handle. So for previous versions (specifically for 2.2) what is the connection limits and can it be configured.

In the 2.2 rpm there is an /etc/init.d/opentsdb file that sets ulimit to 65k before starting opentsdb. This file handle limit will indirectly limit the connections.
