Hi everyone.
On my new Ubuntu laptop, I installed a new version of openrefine (2.7, the latest),
and it's working fine.
But I also tried installing an extension (VIB-BITS), and it's not working.
I followed both these instructions:
http://data.bits.vib.be/hidden/g7dt6RjuUTU421dY2CwrGePGX/OpenRefine%20VIB-BITS%20save%20facets%20plugin.pdf
and these:
https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/wiki/Installing-Extensions

From what I see, nothing is out of place: the directories are readable, and also openrefine somewhat understands that there is an "extensions" folder, but it doesn't work.

Any suggestion?

Hi Andrea,

could you try putting the Vib-bit extension directly into your Open Refine folder (the one containing the software) in the "webapp" -> "extensions" folder?

Ok, two things:
* the error was mine, I actually downloaded a plugin of the plugin, and not the real one. Now it works.
* I think that Ettore is right in suggesting the "webapp" > "extensions" folder, as the other folder, at least on Linux, is *hidden*. So this is easier and also the folder is already pre-existent. Maybe time to change the instructions?

Thanks all,
helpful as always.

I will add this method in the documentation. But be aware that both are subtly different. If you put your extensions folder in the workspace directory, you can use them with any version of Open Refine. But if you place them in "webapp> extensions", you will have to copy and paste them each time you download a new version - such as the 2.7.1 that will arrive soon :)...
