Hi Folks,

Purely to understand likely data-flows in relation to Sheffield Supertram's Tram-Train programme, can anyone telll me what sort of data-types Darwin will accept?

The current real-time provider produces a SIRI-SM feed containing predicted arrival times at a tram-stop, substituting timetable data where real-time AVL data is unavailable to predict from.

However, its possible that the same provider could send pure AVL data to Darwin - would the latter be able to calculate arrival times at stops on its part of the tram-train route and if so, what sort of data would it expect?

Darwin takes data from Network Rail in the form of CIF, TRUST and TD reports, and from TOCs via Tyrell and their CIS systems. Manual changes can also be input by TOCs via Darwin's own Workstation. If these services are entered into Network Rail's timetable database (so available in CIF) and movements are provided via TDs, or by Tyrell/CIS, then Darwin will make predictions and record actual timings.

Any other data source would require a change for Darwin to receive and process the data and publish predictions/movements.
