Dear OpenQuake specialists,

I have run an OpenQuake and it produced the hdf5 file. I tried to open it with HDF5view  and I get the error regarding the failure of this program to open the file (attached figure).
I also tried the commands , h5dump , and still I could not open the file.

[epeygha@nodelm01 export_folder-California_VRG_2Test]$ h5dump -n result.hdf5
h5dump error: unable to open file "result.hdf5"

In order to handle this issue would you please let me know :

 1. Is there any possibility that the OpenQuake has problem in saving of this binary files?
 2. What is the production of this file dependent on from IT point of view?
 3. Do you have any comment how can I solve this issue?

Best regards,
Elnaz

You should tell us which file you are talking about. The engine does not produce a file called result.hdf5, so I assume you renamed some file. Which file was it?
Also, did the computation run to completion correctly?

Dear Michele,

These are the calc_1.hdf5 which I have changed their name to result.hdf5 saves in oqdata folder in home/OpenQuake folder.
Yes the computation goes to the end correctly and produce even the results with export commands, but I can not open this hdf5 file even for an small analysis like the demoes.
I need them in case my analysis will be very big and I can not use export command.

Thanks
Elnaz

Dear Elnaz,

can you please click "Help" and then "HDF5 Library Version" and tell us which hdf5 library version are you running? Probably hdview is running on top of an older libhdf5 compared to the one used to generate the file.

Please also check the libhdf5 version of the machine where you have generated the datastore. Since libhdf5 can be installed in various ways, you can get its version running

python -c 'import h5py; print h5py.version.hdf5_version'

Cheers,
Daniele
