Exchange/Update a SCORM course element

Hello,

I got a question regarding the exchange/update process of a SCORM course element.
We have some SCORM packages that need to be updated, most of these SCORM packages are used in more than one course.
Now I don't really know how to update them. Do I have to go to every course and exchange it there manually? Like upload it there directly or upload the new version to the authoring area and link them in every course where they are used?
Or can I maybe just exchange/update the old SCORM package in the authoring area?
