course password protection -> was this the former way of restricting access to course

Hi,
I see on our version of olat that you can specifiy a password to restrict access to a course.

Was this the method used before access codes were introduced for courses,

and does it acheive essentially the same thing albeit without the ability to specify a date?

Hi Graham

One thing is to create a password course booking method. This is done ‚outside‘ of the course. The other think is to have sections in the course that have also some password protection. This is in the course on the course structure elements. You can have multiple of them. 

Note that the latter is not stable in your release, it is not thread safe, meaning when to people at the same time try to enter a password things can get mixed up.
