If I understand correctly, OI Convert CSV has one format that should take the files that used to be in HandyShopper 2 (pdb) and have been converted to csv (with hs2convert.exe) and bring them into OI Shopping List.

I used a copy of HS2convert dated 2005, which is, I think, the most recent. I converted a file that was pristine on my Palm TX. I followed the instructions on the page for OI Convert CSV, used OI File Manager to be sure I got the right path, and the message on my phone running Android 2.3.6 keeps saying "wrong csv format." Same thing happens when I try on my Asus Memo Pad running 4.2.2.

Can anyone tell me anything about this error?
Does anyone have the file structure that the CSV should be? I have Need,Priority,Description,CustomText,Quantity,Units,Price,Aisle,Date,Category,Stores,PerStoreInfo,EntryOrder,Coupon,Tax,Tax2,AutoDelete,Private,Note,Alarm,AlarmMidi,Icon.

The only time OI Convert CSV has worked for me is if I use it to take a file on OI Shopping List out to CSV, then bring it back, on the same device. I can't even get it to bring in a csv created on one device into the other device.

I'm puzzled and hoping for assistance.

Are you using the version of ConvertCSV from Google Play or the one from the download page? The latter works better, especially if you have per store prices. If that doesn't help, I might need to see your data, if that's ok.

Hello Aaron,

I've used both versions. Tried this repeatedly. Most recently the latter after finding your site and the forum.

You are welcome to see the data.

Thank you.

Hi Sarah,

Recent versions of HandyShopper include "hs3convert.exe" instead of "hs2convert.exe" and they write one more column of data than the version you have. We don't actually handle that column but apparently we expect it to be present.

You could try processing your data with the newer hs3convert.exe... or you could just add the column manually. I added ",AutoOrder" to the end of the first line and a comma to the end of the rest of the lines, and then I was able to import the travel.csv file (attached.)

Also I should have been more specific in my earlier message because we have two download pages: the one on openintents.org and the one on googlecode.com. I was referring to the latter, where we have OI Convert CSV 1.2-rc2.apk

Hope this helps,

Hi Aaron,

Ah! I knew that HS3 was out there somewhere, but since I've moved from Palm to Win Mobile (for the sake of keeping HS2) and finally to Android when my Win Mobile phone and Win Mobile 6 both bit the dust, I didn't think to download HS3.

I can easily add that column, so I'll give that a shot.

Btw, if there's a newer version of OI Convert CSV, you might want to add that  link to the OI web page where the apps take me to download add-ons. I hadn't realized there was another version or location for same except on Play.

Excellent! I can now tell you that the issue was the missing field, not the newer version of Convert. I tried the file with the final field on 2 devices, one with Convert 1.1 and the other with 1.2. Both came in like a charm.

Thanks so very much. I nearly went nuts without my HS2 when I had to switch to Android. I'm really tickled to find a list app that works nearly the same.

If there's anything I can do for you, please feel free to ask. I'm retired, so I generally have time. There are grandkids, sewing, needlework, etc., but I could still squeeze in some documentation writing or editing if you need any. I spend several years editing and writing tech docs for the Process Control Division of Westinghouse just after it was sold to AEG. You are in Europe (I think?) so you would know AEG. I'm accustomed to working with engineers of all types, and am not too bad at running software and writing up the user docs. I have Word 2003 and Open Office, of course. I can also do flowcharts in Visio, make spreadsheets, etc. Anyway, I'd be happy to help.
