PhD Position in Digital Government

PresentationAt the Institut de hautes études en administration publique (Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration) of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration, in the University of Lausanne an assistant/Ph.D.position (80%) will have to be filled on a date to be agreed upon.
The position is part of the Research Unit “Information Management” headed by Prof. Tobias Mettler. The candidate for this position is expected to conduct her/his Ph.D. thesis within the field of information management in the public sector.

Contract length : 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

- Perform research work for Ph.D. thesis
- Collaborate in administrative and consulting activities of the research unit
Your qualificationsYour profile
Applicants should have the equivalent of a master’s degree in Information Systems, Statistics or Computer Science (preferably with a minor in Management or Public Administration) and have the following skills :
- Excellent skills in data analysis, statistical methods and programming;
- Knowledge in theory and methods of management science;
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and writing of a PhD. thesis in the area of digital government, data science, and/or information management in the public sector (e.g. big data in healthcare or border control);
- Innovative, accurate, reliable and persistent;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Proficiency in French and German is an asset.
