Just curious: OpenEmulator seems so well crafted, and such a labor of love. Does anyone know why Marc Ressl stopped developing it?

Yes, I know as he transferred to me the control of his Apple II Documentation Project and we discussed about that. The only thing to know is that he left for personal reasons.
