Hi everyone! 

I’m Rebecca Griesbach, a journalism student at the University of Alabama, and I’m here to help (and learn along the way). I’ve been writing/designing/photographing the news for about five years now, ever since my school system went under investigation for re-segregation. Last year, I joined my university and Electionland in reporting on problems at the polls, and this semester I’ll be working with you all to ensure everyone has access to the data behind those stories. 

So far, I’ve requested, converted, and parsed results from the 2014 NY General – and I’ve been checking in weekly with Derek, who’s already taught me some magical things (like the many functions of find and replace). Also, watch out for the blog; I’ll be documenting my adventures as a data novice, hopefully making it easier for students like me to lend a hand.
