Dear devs!

How about using animated gif badges?
Is it possible to encode the json-ld data into an animated gif?
I tried to look it up and it seems like the structure of the gif is allowing to do steganography.

I think it would be awesome to have animated gifs as badges, it would open up new doors for badge-design which maybe we are not even aware about.
And it would finally start to use the potential of the digital media in displaying the achievements.

What do you think?

The GIF spec is patent-encumbered, so that's a -1 for adopting it. I'd be interested in your thoughts on how the OB data could be embedded in the image files though. When I took a cursory look at GIF, it seemed more complicated than SVG or PNG.

However, SVG, which is already a declared Open Badges container format has the ability to animate as well. Works best with vector paths, of course: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/animate.html This can already be used for all platforms that support SVG-SMIL
