CERT ISSUE? - could not get assertion: unreachable

When trying to retrieve a badge I get the "could not get assertion: unreachable" error and in the console I can see the following:

When I visit the URL of the assertion all works as expected.

CERT_UNTRUSTED indicates to me that the assertion URL is hosted over SSL/HTTPS, but that the validator server doesn't like the certificate provided. Perhaps you could investigate the domain on https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html and discover a possible reason? 

If that's not enough information for you, you could provide the URL here and we might be able to help debug.
