SVG quirks

Hi, Badge devs,

We're adding SVG to Badgr and in testing, we're finding many issues with edge-cases in terms of found images on the web. When we bake assertions into some following the baking example, sometimes the result doesn't display right in browsers using an IMG tag or validate in the w3c svg validator.

Are there differences between SVG versions about how custom namespaced elements may be added? Or is there a good resource you can direct us to to better understand adding custom elements to svg xml?
