Hey guys,

With the new sniffer code that Simon wrote! It now makes it very easy to sniffer RDM traffic, but you need a RS485 Driver to translate to TTL for the Saleae Logic to litsen to the traffic. To make this more useful and easy to use, I planned to design and fabricate an isolated RDM input board for use with Logic.

How many people would be interested? I am considering making a batch of 25 of these, and they would run about $50 each. The idea is that they will be fully enclosed and you'll only need one cable to your computer, and two DMX cable and no extra power cables.

  Comments, Criticisms, Snide Remarks?

Will the logic be in the sniffer unit?

Its possible but probably not. Its something I'm going to look at though!

Ok so it's two cables then right? One to connect the logic and one for power?

The best case scenario is a Y-Cable that only splits power and not data. I've haven't quite found what I am looking for. Otherwise it might be a USB-B mico on the case then a USB A to go to the Logic.

Hi Sean,

I expect to buy the Salae Logic.
Is there any accessories which could be usefull with your board, for example the Logic-to-1x9 Header sold on salae shop ?

Thanks,
RenZO

I know mine came with a little wire header that I was going to standardize the connector on. The board is just going to have a .1 inch header on it to access the signal.

Ok. The header is the third part on this page ?

No it won't require the header in the picture. I'll make sure the board has pins that the standard 9-wire bundle will attach to. I don't anything else required other than the board and the standard logic.

Also, I've just recently quit my job. It may be hard for me to fund the project upfront. Would people be willing to do pre sales? I'll still work on the board. In fact its what I plan on doing today.

I've gotten a few people saying they would be ok with pre-sales. My good friend Milton Davis drew the schematics and laid out the PCB for us. It's fully isolated at 1000V. Uses a micro USB connector for power. There will be a small pin header to connect the logic probes up to, and I will also come with a male and female XLR5 to connect to. I won't be able to include an enclosure for that price though. Every order helps bring down the cost for everyone though.

Hi All

For any one this side of the pond, we also have a similar interface, available form the web shop JESE Web Shop
These are stock items, used as component in products we manufacture for OEM kit, so well tested over time.
