How to send info from mac layer to network layer in inet

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to implement a secure routing protocol in network layer using INET and omnet++. Here I need to send a parameter measured in Mac layer to network layer. Can anyone please tell me how I can do that? Is there any predefined function at INET to send those parameter from MAC to Network layer? 

Any suggestion will be appreciable.
