Hi Omeka dev,

We're about ready to release a plugin for Omeka 2.0 that enables upload of files to the Internet Archive: https://github.com/Daniel-KM/BeamMeUpToInternetArchive

To use it, you need an archive.org account. Once you have an account, you can generate keys to the Internet Archive's S3-like server here: http://archive.org/account/s3.php and add them in the plugin's configuration page.

If you just want to kick the tires, you can use test_collection as the collection on the plugin configuration page. Ultimately, the plugin is designed to let you save items directly to your own Internet Archive collection (if you don't have one, you can set one up by emailing in...@archive.org).

We're testing on an EC2 instance and having timeout problems with the following server error:

[Thu Feb 14 22:35:10 2013] [error] [client 67.180.255.221] PHP Notice:  stream_copy_to_stream(): send of 8192 bytes failed with errno=32 Broken pipe in /var/www/omeka/application/libraries/Zend/Http/Client/Adapter/Socket.php on line 301, referer: http://ec2-54-245-35-40.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/admin/items/add
[Thu Feb 14 22:37:10 2013] [error] [client 67.180.255.221] PHP Notice:  stream_copy_to_stream(): send of 8192 bytes failed with errno=32 Broken pipe in /var/www/omeka/application/libraries/Zend/Http/Client/Adapter/Socket.php on line 301, referer: http://ec2-54-245-35-40.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/admin/items/add

And on our localhost running MAMP, the following errors in the Apache error log:

2/12/13 12:09:59.642 PM mDNSResponder: Double NAT (external NAT gateway address 10.1.10.10 is also a private RFC 1918 address)
2/12/13 12:12:38.128 PM acwebsecagent: DownloadUpdatedConfig : Server certificate verification failed. Code: 1009
2/12/13 12:14:14.212 PM acwebsecagent: Connection : NULL license/public key provided
2/12/13 12:14:14.212 PM acwebsecagent: Connection : Auth key is not provided, bypassing towers. CMode : 2 TMode : 0

Also, we occasionally get the following error when attempting to remove items from the Beam Me Up queue, though we definitely have connectivity through MAMP:

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://localhost:8888/omeka02122013/admin/beam-me-up-to-internet-archive/index/batch-edit. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Curious to see how it works for others.

Cheers,
Anne

Fantastic!

When I tried it, though, it caused problems with the item edit page -- at least without having my archive.org account information entered in. Looks like it was dieing when trying to create a new BeamInternetArchiveRecord. Is that expected when the archive.org info isn't entered yet?

Thanks,
Patrick

Thanks, Patrick. We're looking to set up bug tracking for the plugin — so far, we like http://lighthouseapp.com/, but we're curious: what are most people on this list using?

We'd be curious to hear if you (or anyone) gets the following errors when your archive.org info has been added and you attempt to upload through the plugin. On our development environment (using MAMP), the error looks like this:
2/12/13 12:09:59.642 PM mDNSResponder: Double NAT (external NAT gateway address 10.1.10.10 is also a private RFC 1918 address)
2/12/13 12:12:38.128 PM acwebsecagent: DownloadUpdatedConfig : Server certificate verification failed. Code: 1009
2/12/13 12:14:14.212 PM acwebsecagent: Connection : NULL license/public key provided
2/12/13 12:14:14.212 PM acwebsecagent: Connection : Auth key is not provided, bypassing towers. CMode : 2 TMode : 0
Just trying to get pointed in the right direction.

Thanks,
Anne
