Where/how can I block access to the Omeka Admin interface for "Researcher" users?

Not sure what other permissions you'd like to manage or alter, but it sounds like installing the Guest User plugin, and making the Researchers' role to Guest User might get pretty close to what you are looking for. The Guest User role lets people log in, but doesn't give admin access.
