Sounds fun.  I wanted top get some time on the new 3d printer, but alas, I have sign class tonight.

What software do we use for the printer?

Ben mentioned it to me before, but I forgot and even worse, didn't write it down. :/

I assume you mean the 3D printer? For design, We use Solid Works, SketchUp, Fusion 360, OpenSCAD, and just about anything else that can generate an STL file. For printing, we use Matter Control.

Hi Eric,

Yes, 3-d printing :)

Which would you suggest for someone new to actually designing in CAD.

my goal is to create a model of a high voltage switch. 

I would check with you, Keven or Ben before printing, one to make sure you don't see a problem with the model, and two to make sure I won't be abusing the use of the printer.
