Hello PHP friends,

Good news for the XOOPS Foundation located here in Cincinnati.

It's nice when technology experts recognize our Open Source project XOOPS
(www.xoops.org) as a "powerhouse platform", on par with Drupal and Joomla,
and state that these three projects "offer power and flexibility that
Wordpress cannot touch". Yes, we absolutely agree! :)

See here:

nd-xoops/>

They also did a follow-up interview with our team about our future plans for
XOOPS, and few other things. You can read it here:

But we agree with the author's assessment about the need for "simplicity",
and at XOOPS we've been very hard at work to make it happen. Eduardo, one of
our designers from XOOPS Mexico has developed an awesome extension called
"Common Utilities" (http://rmcommon.com/en/) that can be installed on top of
our current version XOOPS 2.5.8
(http://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6762), together with some
of the modules created with this new architecture
(http://rmcommon.com/en/modules/). And they are as good if not better than
Wordpress! :)

The Common Utilities extension will be part of our upcoming "next
generation" version of XOOPS - see more on our XOOPS Roadmap:

For those who don't know XOOPS, it is an international Open Source CMS
(Content Management System), powering thousands of Websites around the
world, incl.:

- governments such as State of Parana in Brazil
(http://www.cidadao.pr.gov.br/) or the Libyan Ministry of Defense
(http://www.defense.gov.ly/),
- Science Institutes such as "Neuroinformatics Research in Vision" Project
in Japan (http://xoonips.osdn.jp/index.php?ml_lang=en),
- religious organizations such Hinduism Today
(http://www.hinduismtoday.com/),
- corporations such as ITG Energy Mexico (http://itgenergy.com.mx/)
- and here locally the West End Cincinnati's Website
(http://westend-cincinnati.org/) and SHPE (www.shpecincinnati.org)

You can even build a full business application framework on top of XOOPS, as
developers from Malaysia have shown few years ago:
http://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6784

XOOPS just ROCKS! :)
