Hey all,

Wednesday at 6pm (not 6:30pm), Rachel Hartviksen will be giving us a talk on Why You Should Love Regular Expressions (talk description below).


1. Important Note: Venue and Time Change

Shopify will be providing the venue for this month’s meetup, located at 150 Elgin Street.

(Please watch the meetup event page for access details, as it's not quite the same this time as with other events that you may have attended at Shopify)

Please also note that the start time for this month has moved to 6pm.


2. Agenda

From 6pm to 6:30pm, there will be mingling over food and drinks, so try to be there for 6pm. :)

Rachel’s talk starts at 6:30pm.

Rachel Hartviksen will be giving us a talk on Why You Should Love Regular Expressions.

Is regex one of your critical development tools?

Is reformatting your code to meet style guides both fun and quick?

Do you get a little excited when someone mentions regex?

If you answered "no" to any of the above questions, this talk is for you!

Rachel will go over the basic premise of regex (regular expressions), how you can use them in your day-to-day work, and why they are just so freaking awesome.  

Here are some of the topics that will be covered:

  - What is regex?
  - Review of common metacharacters, 
  - Capture Groups
  - A few regex examples
  - A note on greedy/lazy quantifiers
  - Applications of regular expressions
