Have you heard of IoT613? It's Ottawa's Internet of Things conference taking place September 24 and 25, 2015!
Dedicated to IoT technology, innovation, UX, and design -- discover the next big wave in connected communication.
1. What is the Internet of Things?
Well, the concept behind IoT is the idea that any "thing" (an electronic device, the people you know, or the cat down the street) can be connected to the Internet; and through these connections, these "things" can communicate with each other, ask for information, get updates (e.g., from various sensors), or request that they do stuff!
For example:
"Cell phone here. Hey, coffee machine, she just got up -- please brew a cup of the dark roast. Thermostat, it's too cold in here, could you turn up the heat to 22 degrees? Car, set your auto-start for one hour from now, she should be out of the door around then. Bedroom lights, fade on to full brightness over the next 1.5 minutes."
And so on...
2. About the conference
The two-day conference starts on Thursday with a half day interactive workshop covering the challenges of designing for the Internet of Things. Friday will be a full-day speaker series; listen to and network with industry experts, innovators, and visionaries from a wide range of fields.
3. But wait, who should attend?!
Beginners, experts, designers, programmers, UXers, makers, innovators... pretty much anyone with an interest in IoT.
4. How much does it cost?
A full conference pass is $150, and individual passes for either the Thursday workshop or the Friday speaker series are also available.
5. Where do I learn more and register?
Register for the conference to learn more about IoT, be inspired by almost endless possibilities, and understand what it means for our future.
