OVERALL ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Software Architect, the MGD Web Developer’s primary role is to help design and develop AJAX-based websites and web applications

REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years of web design and development experience
  
  
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Diploma in Interactive Multimedia & Design or related subject
  
  
• Experience in developing rich web clients and AJAX based GUI applications
  
  
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
  
  
• Strong initiative and desire for self-development

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the development of web applications and components.
  
  
• Responsible for the design and development of web pages, graphics, multimedia, GUIs.
  
  
• Effectively develops in a clean, well structured, easily maintainable format.
  
  
• Utilizes storyboarding and graphic pre-designs where appropriate.
  
  
• Demonstrates creative, technical and analytical skills.
  
  
• Operates effectively as a member of the development team.
  
  
• Operates effectively as an individual for quick turnaround of enhancements and fixes.
  
  
• Responsible for meeting expectations and deliverables on time and in high quality.
  
  
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in both technical and business environments.
  
  
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Solid understanding of human interaction factors, navigation and UX design.
  
  
• Practical experience in development of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL and graphics creation with Adobe Creative Suite.
  
  
• Front-end and some back-end development experience. Experience with integrating front- to back-end functionality on application frameworks such as Ruby on Rails or Django
  
  
• Practical experience building responsive web sites using modern Web development frameworks.
  
  
• Experience working with data-handling via AJAX, JSON, and REST APIs.
  
  
• Experience with Twitter Bootstrap and JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, Angular JS and React
  
  
• Experience with CSS preprocessors such as Sass or Less.js and DRY templating systems such as Haml
  
  
• Exposure to agile development methodologies and tool chains.
