Peter, WA7FUS, spotted this on the interwebs this morning:

John Hays, K7VE, briefly mentions a new product for the Rpi today in Dayton. You can add a HAT to the Rpi and turn it into a 1 Watt digital transceiver!!!

Load up the video and scrub forward to 5:30.
