Yeah I figured I'd through it out there in case anyone wanted some hacking company! Didn't quite make it this week but next hopefully. I'll post again if so....
On a related note, I'm working on two hobby projects: one is a "meditation belt" that monitors your breath depth/rate the idea being to entrain you to breath consciously (ie actively, with full lung capacity) continuously. I ordered a sample of stretchy resistive fabric form Hitek. You can see my fine sewing work here:

The other thing I'm interested in making and I'm wondering whether anyone has any tips for the right parts to involve? – A slick, modern yoga/meditation timer - I'd like to remove my dependency on my iphone which i use frequently for yoga sets and multi-part meditations. Insight Timer is (was) a great app and I'd like to recreate it's functionality (nice bell sounds, multi-part timers which can be saved) in a nice piece of tactile, user-friendly hardware with low power consumption. I'm thinking some sort of high-res LCD and some touch-contact buttons, akin to Teenage Engineering's synthesizers. I guess it'd need some storage/memory for the alarm wav files and some sort of above average quality but low profile speaker. Any tips?
Gratefully,
