Hi, I have been asked to make the Maker Community aware of the following event.

British HCI Conference 2017 Maker Day
Creative Hack for Digital Make-Believers
 
When: Monday 3rd July 2017, 9am -9pm (Maker Day) and Wednesday 5th July 11am – 2.30pm (Showcase Presentation)
 
Where: Fab Lab Sunderland, University of Sunderland.
 
What to Expect
A hands-on opportunity to think, make, and co-create with others in a high energy, highly collaborative and creative environment.
The Maker Day is a chance to use innovative methods, collaborative processes, digital fabrication equipment and technologies to creatively respond to the theme of Digital Make Believe.
 
We are looking for a broad range of creative practitioners including: hackers, artists, designers, coders, UXD/HCI specialists, researchers, developers, thinkers and other creatives. You can be a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME), a research organisation, or a freelancer.
 
Featuring:
Free access to the British HCI Conference 2017 (worth £350).
Participation in the Maker Day Hackumentary film, showcased at British HCI 2017 and online.
 
Beyond the Day
We will identify a selection of projects to go forward and pitch for Second Stage Innovation R&D funding through Creative Fuse North East.
Projects will be identified at the Showcase on the 5th July. This will also be an opportunity to receive feedback from sector specialists on your projects and ideas.
 
How to Apply
Please send the following information to suzy.o’ha...@sunderland.ac.uk before 12 noon on 28th June:
1.       A single page CV
2.       A link to your own work (artwork, object or project)
3.       A 300 word expression of interest addressing the following points –
    a)       A description of who you are an what you do
    b)      Why you are interested in taking part
    c)       What kind of outcomes you are expecting from the Maker Day
    d)      Your strengths, skills and what you can contribute to a team.
 

The British HCI 2017 Maker Day is a Creative Fuse North East Innovation Pilot, and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
