Hello,

Hopefully someone here can help - I have something used by Railway that needs to be disposed of and am unsure how to go about it - it can't be thrown away but nor is it okay to be kept.
Wonder if anyone knows who'd be best to speak to or contact regarding responsibly disposing of specialist items - apologies for the lack of detail but can discuss privately if needed.

Thanks,

Peter

That's very vague, is it a corpse?

Maybe, it's the magic clock that makes all trains run on time.

We're keeping that clock, but no it's something else we need to get rid off!

Yep, more info needed.

when you say 'Railway' do you mean a charity or club that does railway stuff, a railway company or some other entity/person ?

Is the item hazardous in some way (http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Waste/Hazardous.aspx), bulky (http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Waste/Hazardous.aspx) or otherwise special (https://www.biffa.co.uk/services/general-waste/?gclid=CjwKEAjw4IjKBRDr6p752cCUm3kSJAC-eqRtPqXBg1S-OGQ1-bcsc9IECGMoLHGfUB0YMfeq6KEIehoC8p3w_wcB).

Otherwise, I'd recomend locking the item to railings anywhere in the centre of Newcastle with a combination lock and walking away for ten minutes.  Judging by my bike record it is almost guaranteed to be gone afterwards....

Paul.

This is quite helpful - it's something that couldn't just be thrown away in normal rubbish but needed to be responsibly disposed of - will try and see if can arrange something or find somewhere I can drop it off where I can be sure there won't be any issues.

Another option is to dismantle it to parts or otherwise disfigure it so its origin is less apparent.

But of course that depends on what it is!

This advice also applies to corpses

Perhaps it is best to have a chat off line. I confess I know more about what you are not allowed / supposed to do than what and are / can but I might be able to help.

Hi I am happy for Alistair to pass on my private details to you offline. If you want. Let me know and I could seek advice from the SRM.

Cool that would be great - any advice would be fantastic - I can share details of what the item actually is just couldn't do so on a public group

Hehe, quit guessing unless you open direct dialog to help :) he's already not publicly saying what it is, and he'll not respond to guesswork imo either ;)
