Hi,

Chatting on a facebook thread about a DaVinci that looks the same as ours but is red and appears to have a scanner.

The discussion is around proprietary filament and slicing software, neither of which are things we are stuck with.

Does anyone know if that was the case with our model and what needs to be done to get round it please?

Cheers,

Iain.

It might be worth asking Steve Q directly as he did the conversation but I don't know if he is on this list.

FWIW I was told the controller was replaced for that of a RepRap but that was a highly simplified explanation. I suspect it was more of a faff that is being kept on.

I think he had a way to reset the filament count chip in the spool, and then later reflashed the printer to a non propriety firmware.  Check out some of his Youtube videos about the changes he made

Fear not I'm still stalking the discussion list here.

The davinci you guys have has been refreshed with a none XYZ firmware.

This disables the filament counter on the cartridges and allows total control of the printer settings via g code. If you need any more info just let me know.

Hope you're all well

Steve
