Frye 'Phillip Harness' Tall Boot (Extended Calf) I wanted a tall boot that was form-fitting. I am 4'11" and have an almost 15" calf. This generally means that I cannot wear the standard calf Frye boots due to the diameter of the shaft.<\/span><\/div> I tried the Frye Melissa Button extended calf, and had to return them because the ankle was huge and ended up bagging very unattractively.<\/span><\/div> The Phillip Harness extended calf fit, but it's *very* form fitting. If your calves are at 15" or larger, this boot may be too slim in the shaft for you.The ankle is small enough, and the taper into the calf also follows the line of my leg. I can just get skinny jeans into it if I work slowly. I know from experience that the boot shaft WILL stretch with wear, so the initial tightness is not an issue. As others have noted with Frye, the zipper is a bit hard to work with, but rubbing a beeswax candle on the along the zipper teeth and working the zipper up and down a few times has mitigated the sticking. It is true to size, although I could have possibly gone up a half size to wear thicker socks but the boots would look too large on my feet.<\/span><\/div> All in all, this is how I'd hoped the Melissa Buttons would fit. It fits my leg like a second skin; no bagging or sagging at the ankle, just a smooth line. Workmanship is great, and I would love to get this boot in the dark brown.
