Simply use an image as a background instead of using a background color.
I recently found
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10952523/insert-a-background-image-in-css-twitter-bootstrap
and have to find out howto do it in Nikola.

This is nothing Bootstrap-specific, just put any CSS that changes
background of body to an image URL in files/assets/css/custom.css.
(If you want a different background for every blog post, which is
unusual, you will need some more work)
