Nikola won't autobuild

I'm getting this whenever I try to use nikola auto:

ERROR:root:[Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'nikolabuild'
ERROR:root:maybe you haven't installed nikolabuild

Is this a plugin? why do I have to install something extra to enable a feature that's built into nikola? and it even has the same name, making it hard to Google for!

I forgot to mention I'm running Nikola v7.3.1 on Python 3.4.3.
