Working in my second floor office, a flock of about a dozen Snow buntings just flew by the window, stopped in some large White pines for a second and flew off. Have seen them many times in a farm field next door over the years.
This is a new yard bird to add to our list. After 37 years, yard “lifers” are a nice treat!

I've been seeing dozens of Juncos on the sides of the road everywhere I go lately. So, when I drove up to the house I'm building in Bradford earlier this week and saw a small bird fly up from a patch of gravel near the front door I assumed it was another Junco - though it was a bit "funny-looking". This morning, I drove in a bit more slowly and saw that the "Junco" was actually a Snow Bunting hopping around in the gravel and weeds that the snowplow had exposed earlier this week. It flew onto a couple of bales of hay I had behind the house, but eventually returned to the sunny front yard and spent an hour or so picking though the gravel for seeds.
