Administration of Narcan

On 10/21/16 at 12:19p.m., Newton Police responded to a Sparta Avenue residence for a 9-1-1 report of a suspected overdose.

Upon arrival at the scene, patrols observed the 36 year old female to be unconscious, unresponsive and in respiratory arrest in the first floor bathroom while displaying signs and symptoms that were consistent with a heroin overdose.

As a result, responding patrols administered Naloxone (Narcan) and subsequently placed her in the recovery position as as she regained consciousness.  She was then transported to the Newton Medical Center by Atlantic EMS.
